Deaths Albert Slanker Oldest Master Plumber Dies
Albert Slanker longtime Jefferson City master plumber and owner of Slanker Plumbing and Heating Establishment died in St. Mary's hospital after a heart attack ten days earlier. Born May 28 1887 in Jefferson City he worked as a plumber apprentice at H A Jeffries and later in Kansas City before returning home to run the business. He served as president of the local Master Plumbers Association for 14 years and was active in Central Evangelical and Reformed church the Rotary and the Chums Club. He is survived by two sisters Mrs Harry L Griffin and Mrs J H Welson and numerous nieces and nephews including Mrs R P Dorris.

Roy L. Kay 72 prominent California attorney died suddenly at his home after a heart attack. Kay served as Prosecution Attorney for Monireau county 1907-11 and 1930-38, directed Missouri Reformatory board, and aided selective service during WWI. Survived by wife Stella, daughter Mrs Myri Katschman, three grandchildren, and three sisters. former Otterville school superintendent J P Kay died earlier this year. He was a Masonic Mason, Royal Arch Mason, I O O F member, and active church member.

Former Resident Dies In Grand Rapids Michigan
Lyman C. Gayle, a former Jefferson City resident and former state prison employee, died suddenly at his Grand Rapids home last night. Funeral services are held there today, with Mrs. F. C. Boggs of Monroe attending. Survived by his wife Ethel Gayle, three children Mrs. Martin Giaimo, William Gayle, Mrs. Wendell Scott, and six grandchildren, of Grand Rapids and Detroit.

Mrs Dorothea H Tambke 58 died at her daughter’s home in Russellville after a long illness. Born June 21 1885 she was married to Henry H Tambke May 30 1909 and lived in Stover before moving to Russellville six years ago. Survived by three daughters two sons, three sisters and a brother in Missouri and Japan with burial plans to follow.

Ethel Gertrude Kuttenkuler 27 of Tipton died this morning at St Josephs hospital Boonville after long diabetes. Born September 11 1920 she was daughter of Joe and mother survived by four brothers and three grandparents. Funeral services set for Wednesday.

Judge Moulder to Hear Perjury Case in Camden
Camden Judge Worgan Moulder of Camden County will hear the perjury case against W H Hale convict at the state penitentiary in Cole County Circuit Court on Wednesday. Moulder was called to hear the evidence after alleged perjury before Judge Sam C Blair. Hale allegedly perjured himself while testifying in a habeas corpus hearing. A jury has been called to hear the charges.

Card mailed in 1925 found by granddaughter fishing
Granddaughter and husband found a weathered Christmas card from Salina Kansas dated December 12 1925 addressed to Mrs Margaret Trippensee who lived on East McCarty Street. Card discovered near Heller's Creek in Callaway County while the Haar family fished. Trippensee died eight years earlier and the sender Mrs Roseman could not be identified. Weathering leaves the mystery unresolved.

Freedom Train visits attract thousands in heat
About 10,000 people passed through the Freedom Train today asCross nurses greeted visitors. Some 18,000 signed the visitors scroll during the two day stop. The train will tour next to St Joseph Sedalia and Jeffrey City then St Louis through Monday with long waits in 94 degree heat. Walter H O'Brien led the exhibit schedule and noted the crowd awaited hours in the heat.

Spirit of St. Louis Train Collision in Depot Yard
Two cars of the Spirit of St. Louis passenger train broke away in Columbus and rammed a stationary Pittsburgh train in the depot yards. Initial reports cited two hurt and up to eight trapped, with ambulances requested as investigators described the crash timing just after arrival at the depot. The Pittsburgh train stood on a side track awaiting clearance when the St. Louis cars derailed and struck the Pittsburgh engine.
