Orr nomination action postponed by cosmetology board

The Missouri cosmetology board delayed action on appointing Carlene Orr as executive secretary after Betty Crow said she would not vote for her. Absent Wanda Bolton and a vacancy left Gov. Teasdale's appointee Theresa Forte to appear before the Senate committee next week. The matter involves investigations into state official conduct and long distance calls charged to a state account.

Sloan quits as GOPs fund raiser in Missouri

Sloan resigned as chief fund raiser for the Missouri Republican State Committee after a dispute over Broeker's duties and affordability. He says the committee could not afford both salaries and that staff reorganization was the only solution. Sloan has raised about 44 000 in cash and pledges while visiting 74 counties.

Robert E Marsh director of the Division of Credit Unions in Missouri has been awarded certified status by the Society of Financial Examiners. Marsh 2639 Sue Dr earned a Master of Science in public administration from the University of Missouri and oversees 425 state chartered credit unions. He created the Management by Objectives program and led the development of new exam procedures a written examiners manual standardized accounting procedures and chartering criteria for share insurance applications.

Lathrop police chief rehired after city council firing

Lathrop Missouri police chief Jim Littlejohn was rehired after residents hacked the town meeting, ending a week after his dismissal by the City Council over unreturned calls and reliance on highway patrol help. The IRS says a questionnaire audit of 1,200 major corporations found 48 potential slush funds and 71 cases sent to the R&I Division for possible criminal fraud. If proven, those responsible could face prison and fines. The probe followed disclosures of questionable payments and bribes by large firms.
