Danforth rules on school aid and education funding

The Missouri attorney general Dana Danforth ruled that state appropriations for colleges and universities must receive the same legislative priority as public school aid. He said public education covers higher education and that school debt payments come first in constitutional funding, with public education second.

Lincoln University grants largest class with 256 degrees

Lincoln University awarded 256 degrees in its 104 year history marking the largest graduating class. Valedictorian Donna A. Clark and salutatorian Sharon Sestak led the Class of 1970 as commencement speaker Congressman William L. Clay urged graduates to be militant voices of protest yet avoid destroying the nation. Jet fuel mistake causes deadly Atlanta air crash

Federal investigators say jet fuel was poured into gasoline tanks of a Martin 404, causing both engines to fail and a crash on a highway near Atlanta that killed six aboard and five on the car. 200 gallons of jet fuel mixed with 400 gallons of gasoline, per NTSB Chairman John Reed.
