In Berlin on Friday night East German border guards shot a 17 year old West Berlin girl and wounded her in the hip as she fled toward the west after two girls approached the barbed wire. A second girl was dragged into East Germany while a guard urged them to come closer.

The State Park Board selected Hannegan and George Co. of St. Louis to design and operate a Table Rock Lake hotel project costing just over 1 million dollars. The 130 unit complex includes 128 double suites eight corner suites and 14 deluxe suites with seven heated pools steam baths tennis courts and a yacht club for 2 500 members. The hotel will host 600 convention attendees and feature dining facilities for 400 plus 350 more in a restaurant and coffee shop.
The stock market paused its week of swings as profit taking led to a mild decline. The Dow fell 2.31 to 611.05 while the AP average slipped 0.10 to 225.40 and the S&P 500 dipped 0.25 to 59.38 as 1,335 issues traded.
