Urges Commission For Investigation Of Doctor Shortage
Missouri faces a doctor shortage and a push for a state school of medicine. Rep. Deaths Services Held For Mrs Cannie Ashlock
Services were held Monday at Little Bonne Femme Baptist Church for Mrs Cannie Belle Ashlock 85 who died Saturday at her home Route 4 Columbia. Born April 19 1804 in Boone county she was daughter of Elias and Lucinda Barnes and lifelong Boone county resident. Survived by two sons Douglas Jefferson City and George Boone county six grandchildren Shaefer Ashlock Hartburg Paul Ashlock New Bloomfield Ruby Betty Marie Ashlock Jefferson City Lewis Ashlock McBaine and four great grandchildren.

Elizabeth White Dies At Fulton
Elizabeth White 88 died at the Fulton home of her sister Mrs. O B Scott Jr after visiting there a month. A Callaway county native born in New Bloomfield she lived in New Bloomfield before moving to St Louis in 1927. Her husband John White preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons Pierre Len uel and Campbell all of St Louis.
Rev N D Lehman Dies In Missouri At 83
Reverend N D Lehman a retired pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Hartsburg from 1932 to 1939 died on Memorial Day. He lived with his wife at Blue Springs Missouri and was 83 years old at death. Ed Stevens hit three homers for the Pirates last season.

Governor Defends Action In Asking Worker Lists
Gov. Forrest Smith defended his request for department heads to submit names of provisional appointees. A provisional appointee is a nonexamined worker under the merit system, appointed until the next examination for the job. Sen. C. R. Hawksins questioned Dr. John W.
