Herman Wingrath age 32 of Linn and helper John Schaefer, also of Linn, were killed when their hog truck left Manchester road near Pond and plunged over a 7 foot embankment into telegraph poles. Wingrath apparently nodded off at the wheel. seven hogs died, others escaped. Wingrath’s sisters and Elizabeth Wingrath and Mrs. Jansen learned of the tragedy in St. Louis and Jefferson City. Wingrath survived by a widow Christine and a 4 year old child, plus his mother and five siblings. Funeral for Wingrath set for Friday at St George’s Church in Linn. Schaefer’s funeral plans pending.
