Death of Dr John J. Martin Former prison chaplain
Dr John J. Martin 78 former chaplain of the Missouri State Penitentiary and House of Representatives died at 415 Cherry Street at 6:30 yesterday evening. A Civil War veteran he practiced law after studying at Illinois Wesleyan and Cincinnati Law School before entering the ministry in 1878. He later led Marionville and Garteton Colleges and lived in Jefferson City the past year. Survived by his wife and eight children, funeral Wednesday at 10 at his residence with burial at Riverview Cemetery.

Salvation Army Picnic Delights 200 Local Children
Two hundred persons, mostly children, were entertained yesterday at State Park by the Salvation Army. Friends provided cars and a special street car by Missouri Power and Light to transport the group from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM. The day featured games, races, ice cream, red soda pop, and two meals. Captain Graham expressed thanks to all contributors.

Emil Joanes Dies at Bonnot's Mills 75
Emil Joanes aged 75 died at his Bonnot's Mills home after suffering from a growth on the side of his head. He was a lifelong Bennett's Mill area resident, and was born at sea after his parents emigrated from France. His wife is sister to Henry and Mike Lartonoix of Jefferson City. Mrs Mayme Diggs returned to New Haven after visiting relatives at Linn.

Elious Bruemmer of near Wardsville told Prosecuting Attorney Sam S Haley that he was robbed of 3.50 on Saturday night at Dunklin and Lafayette.
