The group, with nearly 6,009 members in 24 chapters, approved pledging a Negro senior at Wisconsin last spring and ruled no male undergraduate shall be denied membership for race color or creed. Fire Dept Ladder Helps Replace Flagpole Ropes
Fire crews used a ladder truck to replace fraying ropes on the flagpoles in front of the post office after ladders of sufficient length were unavailable. Paul A. A violent explosion damaged the Polish embassy in Paris this morning injuring a watchman. Explosives at the entrance blew out the heavy door and windows while interior damage was minimal. Officials did not link the incident to France Poland tensions over arrests and expulsions.

Two Gun Bandit Routed by One Bottle Man in Nashville
In Nashville on December 30 AP reports a two gun bandit was thwarted by J A Rogers a liquor store clerk who used a whisky bottle to strike and force the robber to flee after he grabbed a second pistol. The gunman escaped with no loot beyond the discarded weapon while Lindy Hultmark of Adrian Michigan spent Christmas with his mother Mrs Searle Hultmark.

Suit to compel adoption of two children in Miami

Alleged Molester Case Taken Over by County
City officials said they would hand the case to county authorities after a theater incident in which a man allegedly molested a girl. He denied the accusation but admitted he had bothered women in the theater and had been stopped by management on prior occasions.

The Missouri Supreme Court fined four liquor firms a total of 42,500 for conspiring to fix prices in a case led by Attorney General J. E. Taylor's anti trust division headed by John Brannan. Seagram Distillers Corp of New York was fined 35,000. All-State Distributors of St. Louis 2,500. Stickney Hoechstler Cigar Co of St. Louis 2,500. and McKesson and Robbin Inc of New York 2,500. The officials said the firms must pay costs and may contest by January 9. The decree confirms an agreement between the AG's office and the liquor firms. Deaths: Mrs Kate Diericks Dies After Illness
Mrs Kate Diericks, 76, of the Olean area, died this morning after a 14 week heart ailment. She was the wife of August Diericks and is survived by two daughters-in-law Julia Mc Millin and Irene McMillin of Jefferson City, a sister Jenna Peek of Olean, and two grandchildren.
