Eleven convicts escape Colorado State Prison in blizzard
CANON CITY Colo Dec 30 AP Eleven hardened convicts including four murderers and two kidnappers escaped from the Colorado State Prison tonight under a heavy snow storm after slugging four guards with an iron bar. A fifth guard was killed or possibly kidnapped as Warden Ray Best called them the worst inmates. Four cars were reported stolen as the escapees fled from cell block No 6 toward the North gate and into West Canon City guarded by wall sentries.
