Graham says garage intended for state employes at Capitol

Freeburg Senior Citizens Home Inc granted charter

The Freeburg group receives a charter to operate as a nonprofit to borrow from the Farmers Home Administration for building low rent apartments for Osage and Maries County seniors. Missouri Supreme Court to revisit lieutenant governor presiding powers

The Missouri Supreme Court will reexamine the 7 to 0 ruling that the lieutenant governor presides over the Senate, after Chief Justice Donnelly changed course and ordered briefs. The case, brought by Attorney General on behalf of Lt. Gov. William C. Phelps, involves who can assign bills and rule on orders, with filings due in January.

Gypsum board makers indicted on price fixing charges

Six major gypsum board manufacturers including United States Gypsum National Gypsum Georgia Pacific Kaiser Gypsum Celotex and Flintkote were indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for fixing prices and standardizing packaging and handling over at least 13 years. Four companies face contempt of court for violating a 1956 order. If convicted, fines reach up to 50000 and individuals could face a year in prison. Glenn E. Wilson of Georgia Pacific denied justification. Kaiser Gypsum disputed the charges. Previous civil awards have been issued against some firms.
