City Man Receives Army Promotion As Yale Gift

Teacher Is Named For Elston School
Mrs. Clarence E. Hartley of Green Berry road was chosen as teacher for Elston School District Number 30. She will teach grades one through eight starting January 3. Hartley, mother of three, previously taught in a rural school and at Moreau Heights. She holds a state teaching certificate for 600 college hours. Superintendent J. M. Man Shot In Yale Tavern Argument
In Olean during an early Christmas morning fray, George Richardson 35 of Olean was shot twice in the left chest and hospitalized at St. Mary’s. Jean Lewis 50, the attacker and Richardson’s uncle, is held in Miller County Jail without charge as the investigation continues.

Shooting at tavern ends with arrest after early morning incident
About 1:15 a.m. Saturday Lewis, not a blood relative, allegedly fired multiple shots at his nephew during a tavern argument. Richardson was taken to St. Mary's hospital. Lewis was arrested shortly after. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Jackson and daughter Kay of Evanston, Illinois, are named in the report.
