Fleeing bank bandit shot by rancher near Harrison
A bank robber who robbed Sioux National Bank in Harrison Nebraska today was shot and killed by rancher Albert Moody after his car crashed on a curve while fleeing. Harold Jeffrey identified the man as M. R. Jensen, age 40, of Denver. The posse fired about 20 shots as the bandit fled on foot. Moody's 3500 yard shot ended the pursuit.

In Joplin Missouri, a Christmas Eve fire at Everett Crume’s home killed a 6-year-old boy and seriously burned Crume, his wife Opal, and three children. Buddy Crumeé’s body was found in an upstairs room as the house were gutted by flames. Opal Crume 26 and Frances 3 were critically burned and not expected to survive. Crume and two other children Jeannine 5 and Jimmy Gerald 8 months were seriously burned.
