Barnett OES members host Christmas party in Barnett

Barnett Mo December 23 special Saturday evening members of Barnett Chapter OES were entertained at a Christmas party with Mrs Anna Williams and Mrs Margarite Morgan hostesses Guests of honor were Mrs Bin ford White of Barnett and Mrs Margaret Kays Eldon The decorations reflected the season A long dining table featured crystal candelabra and evergreens Luncheon served at eight Christmas carols and games led by Mrs May Gorham and Mrs Gladys Goodman followed The hostesses were assisted by several young helpers Guests included many local couples and families, honoring birthdays were noted for Virginia Vows and June Frances with family and friends in attendance

Christmas Boxes For Needy By Happy Hour Club

Happy Hour Club held its annual Christmas party at Mrs. Otto Freshley home on December 17. Four boxes were packed for a needy family with clothing toys canned fruit candy and cookies. Prizes went to Mrs. Otto Freshley Mrs. Arthur Fischer and Candace Loesch. January 21 the club meets at Mrs. Oscar Ehrhardt to discuss the Bill of Rights.

Kiwanis Radio Program Teaches Several Cities

Kiwanis International presents a half hour Christmas day radio program from 10:30 a m over KWOS. It opens in Baton Rouge with the Kiwanis chorus, then shifts to Chicago for underprivileged children, and returns to Baton Rouge for a closing number after a message by International president J B Mosser.

Appeals Board To Meet In January

John Newberry chairs the new state Selective Service appeals board and says no fixed date is set for the second meeting. The first meeting was December 14, hearing 26 induction cases with no reversals. Members include Harley Harrison labor Dr J O McHaney medical Oak Hunter Moberly legal and H E Slusher agriculture. Slusher was absent from the first session. Miss Helen Miller, county librarian, leaves for Christmas with her parents in Conway. We have a few sample dolls.

Ashland Clubs Entertain With Christmas Parties

Ashland notes report twenty two O B D Club members held a party at Mrs Hazel Martin's home with officers elected for next year. Christmas trees and windows decorate local homes. Anita Sapp presented plays at William Wren school before holiday break. Baptist program featured primary and junior pupils with Sylvia Pauley as accompanist. Willing Workers club held a Christmas supper with gift exchanges. Claud Christian suffered a heart attack but showed slight improvement.

Scouts Of Troop 1 In Holiday Party

Boy Scouts of Troop 1 sponsored by the Methodist church held a Christmas party Wednesday night with no sound films first. H B Dickey Jr provided projector and films showing alligators in Florida and crocodiles in Burma. After gifts, Patrol Leader Andy Bill Dalton presented scoutmaster N F Tamm with a jacket. Mothers Club served refreshments and the group sang Silent Night.
