Pvt. Robert McKinney was killed in France on July 16 after ten months overseas and participation in the Normandy invasion. Pvt. James Richard Renick was wounded by a Japanese sniper in the Philippines. his wife Angie Renick was informed. Renick’s overseas service included New Guinea before moving to the Philippines on November 20. his company commander was also wounded. Saipan reports say B 29s from Saipan attacked Nago ya Japan s largest aircraft center for a third time in 10 days. A single bomber led the raid with others following over two and a half hours. Golden Bell once jailed for fleecing a Columbia woman of 5000 in a con game was freed from the state penitentiary yesterday and immediately met a Grand Rapids officer to face trial there. Bell, sentenced to two years after pleading guilty, involved victim Mrs. Lucille Merritt. W. J. Adams, also implicated, remains at large after skipping 5000 bail and their preliminary hearing showed they took 5000 from Merritt. Adams vanished and his bond was forfeited.
