City to patrol high accident intersections
Jefferson City will launch a six month program to reduce crashes at high risk intersections. The city will receive 24000 in federal funds to pay officers overtime for traffic patrols. Lt Col Lawrence Patton says eight cities share the nationwide funding.

Gun waving driver sought by police
David Means, 19, of 1117 Madeline Street, reported a late model Lincoln Continental with Warrensburg plates pointed a small caliber pistol at him on the Rex M. Whitten Expressway around 6:50 p.m. Means said he tried to pass the car, followed it to learn the license, then the two cars separated at Clark Avenue and McCarty Street. The other driver then pulled alongside at Capital Avenue and Cherry Street, warned that Means would be shot if he wrecked him again, and drove off.

Bond pushes to open revenue records for audit
Jefferson City Missouri AP Gov elect Christopher Bond waged a fight to expose Revenue Department records to the state auditor. The attorney general’s office appealed to the state Supreme Court after a circuit court ruled sales income and intangible tax files are confidential. Bond said he cannot perform his auditing duties. Judge James T Riley had held lawmakers aimed to keep tax data secret. Legislation has been proposed to let the auditor and cities with local sales taxes inspect records.

Attica inmates indicted on murder and assault charges
Twelve former Attica inmates were arraigned in Warsaw New York on 37 indictments from a special grand jury investigating the rebellion that left 43 dead. Innocent pleas were entered and the men were sent to Auburn State Prison for further proceedings as additional indictments were expected.

Dentist charged with manslaughter in fatal Washington Ave crash
