Versailles Airport Earns Operating Award
Versailles Missouri airport is among 71 fields awarded a Certificate of Good Airport Operating Practice by the National Aeronautics Association in Washington. The certificates are based on safety and service requirements reported by inspectors. Jerome Lederer, vice president of the association's Air Safety division, said more airports are being considered for similar awards.

Death of Morrison Rural Carrier Mike Hanne at 46
Veteran Morrison resident and 23 year rural mail carrier on the Morrison Route 1 died Monday evening en route to a St. Louis hospital. Born October 25, 1900 in Morrison, he lived there his entire life and served the 31 mile route serving Pershing, Hope, and farm homes in Morrison Fredericksburg and Brown Shanty areas. He married Elsie Wehlewald in 1922 and is survived by his wife, two children Morris and Mrs. Maurice Parke, one son-in-law, a brother Fred C. Hanne, six sisters and many relatives and friends. He had been ill since Thursday. A heart attack is reported as the cause.

Word has been received of the death last Friday night of A C Berry at his farm home on Highway 63 north of Columbia. Survivors include the widow a son W R Berry of River Lane three grandsons and two sisters in Florida.

Demands Funds For Missouri Employment Service

Allen M. Thompson, 77, a Clay County stockman and organizer of the American Royal Livestock and Horse show, died in Kansas City after illness since August. He was secretary to Gov Guy B. Park, later an old age assistance commissioner, helped Hoover era cattle loan facilities, served on the state board of agriculture, led the Missouri fair board, and managed the American Royal from 1905, then the horse show in later years. Survivors include daughters Mrs. 7. B. Dillingham of Nashua and Miss Louise Thompson of New York.
