Hijacker surrenders after Montreal flight across Canada
Larry Maxwell Stanford a 21 year old from Saint John New Brunswick hijacked a Quebecair BAC111 armed with a .22 rifle forcing a flight that looped eastern Canada. He released 57 passengers unharmed then surrendered to his father and a Montreal psychiatrist after a stewardess persuaded him to seek help.

Rocky Mount man charged with first degree murder
A Miller County prosecutor charged 73 year old Joe Woolley of Rocky Mount with first degree murder in the Nov. 29 slaying of his son-in-law Isaac Mitchell, 38, of Belle. A coroner inquest opened but was not completed as Woolley’s attorney advised him not to testify. Woolley, free on 5000 bond, awaits arraignment December 18 in magistrate court.
