Killer and Insane Man Escape Guards
An insane man and a convicted murderer escaped from a prison farm last night. Charles Woodington, 55, fled Fulton State Hospital around 5:30 p.m. He is described as eight inches tall and weighs 140 pounds, with police tracing roads toward Hendolph county. The second escapee, Ross Collins, a 20 year second degree murder convict from St. Joseph, served as a nightwatchman at Church prison farm eight miles northwest of here. Collins, a trusted inmate, was left on duty with one guard. Warden J M Sanders said escapes from the farm are rare.
