Schools seek more fuel amid gas cuts at two Jefferson City schools
Jefferson City public schools face rapidly dwindling heating oil as Missouri Power and Light Co. cuts natural gas to Senior High and Simonsen Junior High on Dec. 4. Superintendent Joe Nichols Jr. said both campuses on interruptable contracts must switch to No. 2 fuel oil, risking closures if supplies run out.

Columbia woman killed in head on collision on Route K
Brenda K. Gifford, 20, of Columbia was killed when her car was struck head on by William L. Stephens, 35, also of Columbia, on Route K near Green Meadow Road. In nearby incidents Darla Banting, 16, Tebbetts, was treated and released after her car ran off a curve and struck trees north of Missouri 94. Daniel Ellis, 20, Camdenton, sustained minor injuries when his car struck a curb near a motel on Missouri 5 north of U.S. 54.
