Eleven Die In Missouri Industrial Mishaps In November

The State Division of Industrial Inspection reports 11 workers killed in Missouri industrial accidents in November. Director George Flexsenhar said 8,718 incidents occurred that month, costing $19,397,559, with safety seminars planned in Springfield Sikeston and Joplin but no dates set.

Up With People to Perform in Fulton This Weekend

Up With People, a musical group building a movement, will perform twice this weekend in Fulton at Champ Auditorium on Westminster College grounds. Cast B members, including 21 year old Degie Tollett, are preparing by studying Spanish for travel in Latin America and plan to stay with local host families.

Expected December flood of bad checks in Jefferson City

Local bankers estimate nearly 4 000 bad checks will be written in Jefferson City during December with about 3 000 returned for insufficient funds and 600 for lack of endorsement. Only five bad checks will be prosecuted in Magistrate Court. Police report 486 bad-check investigations in six months, many not reaching trial, while merchants commonly retry the check and, if it bounces, refer the case to authorities.
