In St Louis and Kansas City markets, eggs, butter, poultry, and dairy prices are listed with varied grades and standards. Hogs, cattle, and sheep show slower trade with prices mostly down from Monday and by weight categories.
Butter prices quoted across grades with 4 448 unsettled creamery specials and various firsts, seconds and standards. Potatoes described as on track with slow demand and moderate supplies, while poultry figures list live weights, hens, turkeys and dressed turkey prices across multiple grades.
U S Dept of Agriculture figures from East St. Louis record nine thousand hogs and four thousand cattle with mixed price shifts. Hogs mostly 10 to 15 lower, top at 9.85. 140 to 160 lb hogs 9.40 to 9.65. Cattle market moderately active with steers up to 11.50 for yearlings, beef cows 41.50 to 57.50, slaughter steers 5.75 to 12.75. Sheep largely steady with native lambs 10.25 to 11.75 and prime small lots at 11.40.
Chicago report shows hogs at 9.45 to 9.85 top with 9.60 to 9.85 bulk for 180 to 350 pound animals. Cattle and calves steady to weak with prices around 6.00 to 11.50 for mixed stock and prime yearlings around 14.00. Sheep and lambs opening slow with bids around 10.75 to 11.25 for good to choice native and western lambs.
Kansas City grain prices for wheat corn oats and other cereals are listed with bid ranges and closing figures. Wheat No 2 hard and No 3 values listed, with Dec May and July close figures. Corn prices cover white yellow mixed and other grades with closing bids for Dec and May. ST. LOUIS, Dec. 10 AP. City residents struggled with traffic rules on driver license tests. Many did not know pedestrians have right of way. confusion over arm signals. over 200 failed the vision test. Licenses require 50 cents for two years. issuance began this week. Chief examiner Pat Dunlavy said tests aim to assess safe driving, literacy required, and some individuals could be passed if deemed capable.
In Little Rock Arkansas the state supreme court upheld a life sentence for Dr A J Bass of Columbia Missouri for the alleged insurance slaying of W R Pearman in 1930 He is serving his term at Tucker prison farm and had sought a new trial on grounds the murder for which he was convicted was not proven.
The Missouri case involved a Bass accused of killing Pearman who was moved across the Arkansas line. A Benton County circuit court jury imposed the sentence after Bass was arrested in Arkansas. The petition claimed a guilty plea was promised hospital treatment in Missouri. The prosecution presented evidence of insurance motives. The Supreme Court ruled Bass received a fair trial.
Young Republican national headquarters warned it must be closed by January 1 without additional funds. The report notes potential shelving of operations and fund-raising urgency amid the Des Moines incident.
