A Navy North American A12 tanker from Norfolk Naval Air Station crashed during an emergency landing in a residential block on Granby Street. Four crew members and two babies died. Two other people suffered burns and shock. one rescuer is Mrs. Joseph E. Tondora. The crash destroyed two houses and damaged a trailer truck.
