Whaley Is Named Chamber President in Jefferson City
C Forrest Whaley, a Jefferson City druggist of 1307 Fe Fid, was elected president of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce for 1955, succeeding Forrest P. Cargon. Also named were Albert Ludwig as vice president, John Morris as treasurer, and Gene Gosch as executive manager. The 1954 board met briefly before the 1955 board election. The first regular meeting will be Jan 4. A Dec 15 Safe Driving Day bond prize of 25 dollars, donated by the Jefferson City Automobile Dealers Association, will go to the driver judged most safe by the police. The contest is part of a nationwide effort to reduce accidents. New directors for three-year terms were also named: Robert L. Gillock, J. J. D. James, Albert Ludwig, Tobin Morris, David Newsom, and Nar Be.

Orders Resumption Of Refund Hearing
The Power Commission ordered a resumption of the refund hearing for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. in Kansas City. The hearing, originally directed last April 15, will cover Feb 20, 1952 to April 30, 1954 and consider a 6 percent annual return or 6 1/2 percent annual return. The panel overruled Examiner Marsh’s ruling on the evidence and delayed action pending Panhandle’s appeal.

Clemency sought for three former GIs in murder case
Topeka attorney Elisa Scott will appeal to President Eisenhower to commute the death sentences of Louis M. Sattles James P. Riggins and Cheasine Beverly Jr. to life in prison.
