Burglars Sought After Budweiser Inn Break-In
Jefferson City police seek burglars who rifled the Budweiser Inn at 202 Madison Street during the early Sunday hours. Thieves drank three beers and fled with about $100 worth of whisky. Entry was through a rear window. two doors and a liquor cabinet were disrupted. They left behind a full case. Time of crime was between 12:30 and 7:00 a.m. Fingerprints were found throughout the inn.

Fred Turner Hid Underground to Dig to Freedom
Fred Turner alias William Wilson, a 22 year old Missouri penitentiary convict, lived in a tunnel since October 4. He and two cellmates Everett Stewart and Mike Kaussman allegedly supplied with food and clothing. They used wooden guns and built a 140 foot tunnel with electric lighting to reach the wall outside Tower 13. Turner was captured as he broke through the exterior wall after spending weeks tunneling and hiding between cells in E hall.
