Governor Bryan's sister dies in Lincoln

Mrs. J. W. Baird aged 76, eldest sister of Governor Charles W. Bryan and the late William Jennings Bryan, died at her Lincoln home after about two weeks illness. Her husband died about a year ago. Maiden name Frances Bryan. Survived by a daughter, a son, the governor, and a sister, all of Linton.

Grand Jury Censures Pemiscot Officials in Slayings Probe

Caruthersville Missouri December 6 AP the Pemiscot county grand jury in its three day session investigating election day killings adjourned saying it could not agree on witness statements. It criticized the county’s prosecutor sheriff deputy sheriffs constables and justices of the peace as negligent in public duties. About 50 witnesses testified mostly from Holland where Horace Perrell was shot on election day. The same day Alexander White was killed at Peach Orchard by Constable John Byrd after Byrd had been stabbed.

Higher Association to Probe Huey Long at LSU and LU

The Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools was asked by its executive committee to investigate charges that Huey Long is running Louisiana State University and Louisiana State Normal College. Dean Alves of LSU's teachers college said the institutions will welcome the inquiry. Complaints were presented at the committee meeting in Atlanta.

Los Angeles authorities searched for John A. Happel in connection with the death of his wife Rosabella Happel.
