Prohibition enforcement tolls surface in DOJ data

Department of Justice figures show 92 federal agents and 178 civilians killed in enforcing national prohibition from January 16, 1920, to October 31, 1933. Convictions reached 334 with fines totaling 80 million dollars. jail sentences exceeded 198 thousand. Property seized under the act valued at about 219 million dollars. State and local enforcement fatalities not quantified.
