LeRoy H. Kelsey of Kansas City is named private secretary to Governor-elect Sam A. Baker. A Republican, Kelsey is a tenantry manager who worked eight years at Fidelity National Bank’s Joan department and twenty years with Bartlett Brothers Loan Co. He will start duties next week at the capitol. Also named to the Missouri Public Service Commission is former circuit judge Almon Ing of Poplar Bluff, effective June 1, 1925. Ing will fill a vacancy created when Thomas Brown became chairman, succeeding Merrill Otis who resigned in August.

Webb Gets Year Term in Prison

Government to reimburse for use of Coles jail
Judge G Al Smith instructed Prosecuting Attorney Sam Haley to inform District Attorney Madison that unless the Federal government pays $15 for the use of the Coles County jail, prisoners must be sent elsewhere. He noted the government pays the sheriff 60 cents daily for feeding convicts but nothing for beds and jail use. The city pays $15 monthly for jail use, and the judge urged national government to do the same.
