Freezing rain halts traffic and schools in Jefferson City
Freezing rain left area streets icy and hazardous with at least ten state highway fatalities across the region. In Boone County, a Sunday ice crash on Route A killed Jerry R. Spencer, 17, and Linda Gibson, 16, injuring four others. City crews treated roads, bus service suspended, and most area schools closed. City meetings were postponed to Tuesday.

Indecent exposure reports investigated in Jefferson City
Jefferson City police checked two indecent exposure reports over the weekend. Both incidents involved a young man seen in a car and later identified as the same person. Trial set for two on stealing charge
Trial date January 29 in Cole County Circuit Court for Jefferson City men Donnie Joe Koelling and Wilson Shelly Camden charged with stealing in the September 29 service station robbery that netted 576 dollars. FBI chief Gray leaves hospital after intestinal surgery

Couple to be arraigned in Temale Hut armed robbery
A Jefferson City pair Glenn Michael Smith 21 and Phyllis Cameron Ladd 24 of 2107 St. Mary's Blvd. face arraignment in Cole County Magistrate Court today on armed robbery charges from a Friday night hold up at the Temale Hut 611 Mulberry St. Police recovered $335 taken from the restaurant and a customer, and the suspects were arrested by Patrolman Wayne Koestner after the incident. The Boone County prosecutor is reviewing the case and the North Star Service Station robbery on Nov. 26.

Two area youths die in icy Missouri crash

Deer strike stops Santa on Alpena highway
