Huge Narcotics Cache Taken in New York City
Police seized a large narcotics cache destined for sale in the Mad Way theatrical and night club district. Two New York salesmen, Jack Gordon and Edward Eichler, both 40 and 49, were arrested in Gordon's midtown furnished room. They face illegal possession charges as detectives and federal agents recovered six and a quarter pounds of heroin and 5 800 morphine tablets valued at more than 750000 dollars.

Walter Schmidt, husband of former Jefferson City resident Angeline Mueller, died of a heart attack while hunting last Sunday in St. Louis. Survived by his wife and three Mueller nephews, J. B. Mueller, William F. Mueller, and Otto M. Mueller. Mrs. Schmidt was daughter of the late Emil Mueller and Emma Petershagen Mueller who lived in Jefferson City.

Sleepy Fultonites Jailed In Hit Run
Three Fulton residents remained in jail Friday with a fourth being sought after a hit and run damaged a Roy Scheperle Construction truck and a sedan. A passerby described the vehicle, a woman slept in front, a man and another woman in back, and a soldier on furlough was later sought as the driver. Damages totaled about $140. the sedan was towed for repair.
