Wage scale appeal hearing Wednesday for Jefferson City contract case
A wage scale appeal hearing is set for Wednesday before the Missouri Industrial Commission in Jefferson City. The case centers on whether local contractors may match a higher rate paid by St. Louis unions for pipefitters on nine construction jobs, challenging a decision that tied Missouri rates to St. Louis wage scales. The Jefferson City contractors argue they lack union affiliation with St. Louis and seek autonomy on rates, while supporters say harmonized payrolls prevent underpayment. The ruling could affect contracts with Natkin & Company and set a precedent for wage agreements across the state.
