Catholic union workers urged to join new world labor group

A conference of 250 labor leaders from 45 countries proposes dissolving Catholic labor internationals within two years to form a new world labor international. The move follows a Cominform appeal and is backed by American and British delegations, though some leaders doubt Catholics will accept the invitation.

Tebbetts Couple Honored At Miscellaneous Shower

Edger Lee Mose and his bride were feted at a miscellaneous shower hosted by friends in the basement of the Methodist church. The Odd Fellows Lodge held its annual Thanksgiving dinner nearby, with a special table for the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Lee Mosely. Nickel plating began commercially in England around 1870.

Thomas Thomas Plea Change Rocks Payroll Case In Court

Rep. J Parnell Thomas of New Jersey withdrew not guilty pleas and entered a plea of nolo contendere on payroll padding charges. Judge Holtzoff dismissed the charge against Helen Campbell, former secretary to Thomas, as he ruled she acted merely as an employee. Sentencing for Thomas set for December 9 with potential maximums of 92 years and $40,000 in fines.

New Zion Community Club Elects Officers for 1950

Enon November 30 Special Mrs Hershel Payne hosted the New Zion Community club meeting with sixteen members and ten visitors present. Two quills were finished and several blocks pieced. Officers for the coming year were elected: Mrs Arthur Mathers president, Mrs A E Russell vice president, and Mrs L J Shikles secretary treasurer.

Governor Forrest Smith considers a writer's request to be imprisoned for privacy to write a book. The man argues he cannot concentrate elsewhere and seeks a cell assignment that would allow undisturbed work. Ashland crowns Queen at Athletic Association ceremony

Nancy Green, daughter of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Green, was crowned queen of the Ashland Athletic Association at a Friday ceremony in the school auditorium. Green, a senior at Ashland High School, led the event along with a carnival as part of the program.
