Phillips 66 Poly Gas remains advertised as extra high test with no added cost. The claim positions Phillips as the world’s largest producer, asserting leadership in quality and supply without price increase for premium gasoline.
Fritz Kuhn remains the leader of the German American Bund despite his conviction for forgery and theft. His aide, William Kunze, announced at a Bronx meeting that Kuhn will continue to head the group and urged fundraising for an appeal. Kuhn is jailed in Tombs Prison and faces up to 30 years for embezzling Bund funds as a federal probe continues.
Kansas City AP report says the county grand jury opened an inquiry into Democratic campaign funds with affidavits from 125 officers detailing $13,111.65 donated from 1938 to early 1940s. The Jackson County party committee’s financial statement, kept in the recorder’s office, was taken into the jury room. The panel also reviews the city licenses case and past WPA management while planning a Dec 11 return to hear more on the state penal and eleemosynary building program.
American minister H F Arthur Schoenfeld reports Russian planes raiding near Helsinki with fires within three blocks of the American legation. Colorado State College fullback Walter Lyons 21 improved after being shot by a fellow student. A 19 year old sophomore, Lois Jeanne Vannersdel, admitted shooting him and remained in custody. The campus romance reportedly cooled as Lyons showed interest in another girl.
Dallas November 30 AP Postmaster General James A Farley has written a letter to C C Peek of Dallas but officials cannot locate Peek’s name in any directory. Red assault across the Gulf of Finland drives damage in Viipuri and Helsinki. Fire rips through Viipuri and western Helsinki as the Russian air fleet targets the capital. Finland declares a state of war while evacuation and civilian shelters mobilize amid blackout and air raid sirens.
The Soviet government announced that Red Army units pushed 10 to 15 kilometers into Finland after alleged Finnish border provocations. The Tass notice claimed strikes crossed the frontier on the Kareli an isthmus and other points, with reconnaissance flights and bombings on Helsinki and Viipuri. Finnish forces reportedly retreated to Finnish territory as Soviet troops moved to consolidate gains.

The village Reasuly saw a Finnish assault on Korkiamaki repelled by a Soviet counter attack that captured one noncommissioned officer and ten soldiers. At 4 a.m. a Finnish company attacking a Soviet post at Termolovo was repulsed by machine gun and rifle fire. Tass stated the Red Army supreme command ordered the invasion after these actions.
