Two Vehicle Crash Kills Child In Lombard Illinois
A two year old Lombard girl died and eight family members were injured in a Tuesday two vehicle crash on Interstate 44 near St James Missouri. Sherry L Black was killed when the car she rode in struck a parked tractor trailer. The driver Hubert L Black 39 and mother Wanda L Black 28 suffered injuries along with four brothers two sisters and additional passengers. The patrol said the other injured included Mathew E Frewald 12 Lom bard Illinois and John E Adams 15 Glendale Heights Illinois. Police reported multiple other local traffic incidents and injuries in the Jefferson City area and surrounding counties.

Jefferson Library Welcomes New Members and Appointments
The Thomas Jefferson Library System trustees announced several new appointees and reappointments across Jefferson City Cole County and Miller County. New members include Mrs. J S Sanders replacing Mrs G H Turner and Mrs A S Jurgensmeyer from Marys Home. existing members Mrs Bernard Schulte and others retained. A furniture consultant from Hicks Ashby Co. will assist with the new facility, and a Friends of the Library group committee was formed with members from four counties.

Skylab 2 to attempt gyrocope repair during spacewalk
Skylab 2 astronauts plan a Friday spacewalk to replace a deteriorating gyroscope system that keeps the station oriented. Flight director Neil Hutchinson said the swap was decided after weeks of gradual gyro deterioration, with no danger to crew Alan Bean Owen Garriott and Jack Lousma. The team worries the gyro could fail during the unmanned interval between Skylab 2 and Skylab 3 next fall.
