Agricultural Depth Keeps Watch Against Foot and Mouth Disease
Washington May 10 The Agricultural Department warns vigilance continues though the epidemic seems waning. It cites Germany’s 1911 losses and traces origin to a Michigan creamery, with cases spreading to Chicago stockyards and beyond. Advice covers broodiness, nest setup, powdering hens, and safe nesting practices. It also urges farmers to seek guidance on timber sales to protect woodland value and cites a Maumee valley example of undervalued timber sale.
