The Benevolent Order of Lions plans a local charter in Nanaimo with Morris in town to organize. The Nanaimo Lodge lists officers including John Ovington and A Mowat as leaders while a Nov 31 1911 deadline nears to boost membership from 50 to 100.
Promotes a white supremacist fraternal order, claiming largest world membership and organized networks. Offers sick benefits, funeral pay, and job help, with charter fees $5 rising to $10 after closing, urging acceptance of members aged 18 to 50 in good health.
A successful Rainbow concert at K of P Hall Comox raised 821.05 for Walter Gye secretary of the Nobel School Board. The event featured songs and dances by Mr Martin Mr Edwards Mr Obery and others with a lively hornpipe by Flair and Howe and an enthusiastic string band encore.
Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge in Comox on September 22 1953 celebrated its first anniversary with a basket picnic and sports at Roys Beach. About 125 paraded from the L.O.C.F. Hall headed by the City Band, joined by Courtenay and Comox guests, and extended invitations to Royal Navy officers aboard Rainbow. The day featured dancing on a platform, gasoline launches, and a robust sports program with prizes, returning to Cumberland Hall for a closing dance by Murdock’s Orchestra.
