W B A Outing at Comox Lake Includes Speeches and Fun
About 30 members of the W B A and friends spent Friday evening at Mrs Frelone's summer home on Comox Lake. A bonfire, singing, games, and stunts entertained the crowd including three ladies in disguise giving speeches mocking the campaign. Mrs Barbara Davis Dies In Cumberland General Hospital
Mrs Barbara Davis aged 29 wife of Charles Talbot Davis died at Cumberland General Hospital on Sunday September 5 1926 after a sudden illness. She leaves two small sons and many friends whose affection for her was deep. The funeral was held from her father W J Keenans residence on Derwent Avenue with interment in Cumberland Cemetery. Pallbearers were intimate family friends. Floral tributes acknowledged by the family from relatives and several local groups.

Cumberland Team Wins Coulson Cup At Mine Safety Meet
The Cumberland No 1 team led by captain Wm Beveridge won the two man and team events at the 11th anniversary Mine Safety Association field day in Ladysmith on Labor Day. Nanaimo No 1 took second in the shield event with Fernie first, Extension second and Cumberland third. About 1,000 spectators attended the program featuring miners rescue and related contests.

School Trustees Discuss Senior Matric and Curriculum
The Board of School Trustees met in Cumberland last Tuesday with full attendance. A request from Misa C Bannerman for a substitute teacher position was approved. The Provincial PTA urged adding Safety Education in Fire Prevention to BC Public Schools, which the Trustees endorsed. Mrs T Banks will represent Cumberland at the upcoming trustees convention. Bills totaled 2,670.67 including 1,680 for painting 325.87 for playground equipment and 397.87 for High and Public School gear. A third teacher prompted new desks and chairs. The senior matric topic sparked discussion with no action. the Board would consider a class if pupil demand exists. Principal Shenstone reported Cumberland High School averages higher than the province in all but two subjects with detailed scores listed for Eng Lit Latin Works and other classes.
