The funerals of six Japanese miners from No. 4 mine were held on Friday and Saturday. John Gibson Robert Dunske and John Johnston were buried at Cumberland Cemetery with the Cumberland City Band in attendance. The G W V A gave the deceased a military funeral. Floral tributes from numerous relatives and friends accompanied the ceremonies.

Annual Field Day At Nanaimo
The seventh Annual Field Day of the Vancouver Island Mine Rescue Association was held in Nanaimo on Labor Day. Twenty teams competed including eight from Canadian Collieries at Ex tension, two from Lanzville, nine from Nanaimo, and Cumberland No. 1 ladies first aid team. Nanaimo ladies won first prize. Cumberland ladies placed second, with judges awarding butter dishes on display in Campbell's store.

Miss Lister Dies in Summit Lake Crash
Miss Anna Lister daughter of Rev. David Lister pastor of St Andrew’s Nanaimo died when her car plunged 40 feet from a bank at Summit Lake nine miles from Revelstoke. She was hospital matron at Revelstoke Hospital and survived by her parents a sister and four brothers. She was a bright cultured woman with noted professional ability.

Horses Die in Box Car Linked to No Ventilation
