Calgary’s Hillhurst, Alberta champions, visited Cumberland United for an exhibition match. Cumberland led 2–0 at halftime with strong forward play, but Hillhurst leveled by full time as Calgary’s stamina and training told. The wet field hindered Cumberland, yet both teams fielded solid performances with few fouls and no rough play.
International mine rescue and first aid events drew large crowds at the Cricket Grounds in Nanaimo on September 1.
