Synopsis of Land Act Amendments
The amendments reduce minimum land prices to five dollars per acre for first class and two fifty for second class. Pre-emption is limited to surveyed lands with records issued only for agricultural non timber land. Partnerships end, but groups of up to four may pre-emp adjacent lands with joint residence and individual improvements. Tenants must occupy five years and invest ten dollars per acre in improvements. Intermediate certificates possible after three years for health or other reasons with pro rata improvements.
