Wyatt Outboxed by Standen in Local Fight

The Wyatt Standen bout at Cumberland Hall ended in the fourth round with Standen the clearer fighter. Referee halted the match to prevent further punishment as Wyatt showed stubborn resilience. Prelims saw Sturt and Vass draw. Robinson defeated Tiede in four rounds.

Catholic Bazaar a Success in Cumberland Gallon

The Ladies of the Catholic charity hosted their first bazaar in Cumberland Gall on Tuesday. A varied display of useful articles and wooden handiwork drew buyers with tea tables well patronized. Mr McNeil provided entertainment with a new film show followed by an enjoyable dance.

Denman Island Builder Plans New Home on Mountain Top

Mr James Corrigal clears site for a new house on Denman Island purchased from Mr Robert Swan near the island church. Materials from the focal mill and Miss Lena Kilian of Wilton North Dakota supply the build. Miss W Anderson departed for Vancouver Sunday night.

Two Moving Picture Shows Attract Full Houses In Cumberland Hall

The Cumberland Hall screened a new moving picture last Wednesday night drawing large crowds all week. Cartwrights advertised 39 boys stockings and 64 pairs of boys punts while offering white Flannelotte blankets 12 by 4 at 4 75. The Ancient Order of Foresters plans a local lodge initiation with Me F B Croatia inviting district residents to join. Royal family links and Queen Victoria are noted in the lore of the order's origins.

Lost for Four Days In Woods Near Quartz Creek

Len Reese disappeared for four days causing town excitement. He, with brothers Joe and Harry, hunted at Quartz Creek after following a river to No 7 mine. They split up. Bea and others failed to meet, and searches began Monday. Reese returned Sunday night safe, an experienced woodman, amid fears of accident.

No 5 Miners Defeat Mixtures 2 1 In Exciting Match

At Bundy Y grounds No 5 Miners beat the Mixtures 2 1 after a fast paced game. No 5 opened with a goal by W Chick and tied the score when Sutherland struck for the Mixtures before Wynne put No 5 ahead again. Second half saw continued pressure from the Mixtures but No 5 held on for the win. Wynne retired after an injury.

Proposal to reestablish Comox Rifle Club on Kilitor Island

Correspondence to the Kilitor Islander notes a proposed Comox Rifle Club.
