Methodist Concert Draws Big Crowd at Local Church

A crowded Methodist Church hosted a musical evening and lantern lecture by Rev. G. R. B. Kinney with rare Canadian Rockies photographs. Performers included C. Edwards singing A Dream of Paradise and Mrs. R. P. Christie singing My Ain Folk and Sing Me to Sleep encore. George Rams dell won applause for Asleep in the Deep. Government Agent Baird Completes 25 Years Service

A large turnout gathered at the Community Hall Comox on Thursday evening for a successful whist drive. Dainty refreshments were provided with thanks to Mrs John McKenzie. Social Evening Draws Community at Anglican Hall

The Anglian Hall hosted a social evening organized by the Parent-Teachers Association on Monday. President Mr. Colin Campbell opened the meeting and minutes were read by Dr. B R Hicks. Reports from school committees were largely favorable. Transportation for Comox Lake pupils was discussed but no agreement reached. A varied musical program followed, with solos, duets, readings and a dance, and refreshments were served.

Funeral of the Late George Yarrow

The funeral for George Yarrow was held from the family home on Penrith Avenue on Saturday afternoon attended by members of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Ancient Order of Foresters. He is survived by a widow and daughter in Cumberland, his parents, two brothers Robert and Sidney, and three sisters. A long list of floral tributes from family, lodges, and friends followed, including wreaths from the Moose Lodge and various Rebekah and Forester chapters in Nanaimo and Cumberland.
