Ladysmith and Cumberland City played to a 3 3 draw in an exhibition at Cumberland. Ladysmith granted league points due to first division players aiding them. Davia scored all eight Ladysmith goals in the first half while Cumberland equalized in the second half amid strong winds. Harmony Club Forms For Sewing Music And Literature

A group gathered at Mrs. I. Oliver's West Cumberland home on Monday evening to form a new club. Boulevard Abolished Along Dunsmuir Avenue Segment

City Council held a special meeting to decide on removing or keeping the boulevard on Dunsmuir Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets. It was decided to keep the boulevard in front of the Post Office and remove the segment opposite Cameron's Garage and Banks' Undertaking Parlors. The remaining portion stays by mayoral order.

May 2 Celebrations Run by Cumberland Association

The Cumberland Literary and Athletic Association takes charge of the May 2 celebration with a broad sports program for children and adults. On the 24th public school pupils will gather at 9:00 am in the school grounds with each receiving 10 cents. An admission fee of 50 cents for men and 25 cents for women is charged. under 14s enter free. Tickets are numbered and holders may pass out. a $10 bond prize will be drawn at the sports conclusion with unclaimed numbers discarded after three calls. The G W V A serves meals and runs a candy and ice cream stall on the grounds.

Campbell River Club Raided by Dry Squad

The Campbell River Club was raided by the dry squad under Inspector Middleton of Vancouver. The club steward was arrested and fined fifty dollars plus costs for keeping beer for sale. The raid occurred on Wednesday May 10. Rumor says the dry squad plans a north end island sweep.

Results Of Comox District School Fair

The Comox District School Fair held in the new school house featured exhibits from nine schools. Home cooking candy flowers and ice cream were sold by the Parent-Teachers' Association. Judges awarded top honors to Royston for the Wolfe's monument color picture with Cumberland close behind. Courtenay placed third with a two percent deficit. Royston and Courtenay teachers are named for several prize classes, including Miss Gallivan and Miss Richardson.

Grand Concert in Methodist Church on Monday

Two renowned artists, pianist Gertrude Huntley Green and baritone Gideon Hicks, will give a concert at the Cumberland Methodist Church on Monday evening. Cumberland Light Office Contract Secured

Mr William Little of Cumberland secured the contract to build the Cumberland Electric Light Company office on Dunsmuir Avenue near the Fire Hall. The 48 foot frontage building will be up to date, with foundations now being laid. An experienced wrestler would be suited for service with the Mt Byer expedition, as he knows the toe hold.
