Fuel Oil Case Before Sir Robert Borden
MPs Clements and Shepherd urged higher petroleum duties to protect British Columbia coal. They presented petitions from multiple boards of trade and a memorandum detailing how oil imports rose from 7.3 million gallons in 1911 to 110.5 million in 1914, threatening the coal industry. They asked for information to be reviewed by Sir Robert Borden and the finance minister.
