Minister frees three labourers jailed over North Bay strike
The Minister of Labour W T Crothers intervened in three North Bay offenders jailed for three months after the Hollinger Mine strike. Tickets of leave issued and the men released after he reviewed hardships from the five mine conciliation award dispute and related prosecutions. The incident follows his history of labor sympathy and action to aid workers in similar cases. Also noted is Cox Hue McLeay’s denunciation of naval policy urging Canada to support Britain with a strong fleet during wartime.
