Athletics Easily Defeat Eagles in Lopsided 10–2 Win
In a Twilight league contest at Rec Ground on Monday, the Athletics defeated the Eagles 10 to 2 after a slow start. Bono umpired firmly, issuing marching orders to an Eagles bench player and a short bench walkout, with Bert McLellan stepping in for the Eagles as play resumed. A fair crowd watched from Courtenay where ranchers and Schaefer Bros. of Washington also attended.

J S H Matson Purchases the Island Princess
Victoria reports J S H Matson has bought the Island Princess and is rebuilding her for ferry service between Fulford Harbor Salt Spring Island and Swartz Bay North Saanich. The vessel was bought from Captain W E Gardiner who had just acquired it from Coastwise Steamship of the CPR.

Two Printers Crushed In Courtenay Press Accident
On Tuesday Charles Forrest of the Comox Argus suffered a very painful crushed hand when caught in a printing press. Assistant Young Haukedal freed him and they were rushed to a doctor. Editor Hughes then trapped his fingers while inspecting the incident, less severely. A relief printer from Nanai mo was sent to Courtenay to help finish this week’s paper.

Funeral for 16-year-old Irvin Trahair Draws Large Crowd
A very large number of sympathizers attended the Sunday funeral for Irvin Trahair the sixteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Banks. The service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church was led by Rev T L Hipp and included the hymn O God Our Help in Ages Past. Burial followed at Cumberland Cemetery with the Vicar officiating, and many floral tributes were received from family friends and area organizations.
