Dean Brock, dean of engineering at the University of British Columbia and noted geologist, will give a free lecture at the Cumberland Literary and Athletic Association on Saturday evening January 12 at 8 o'clock. The second lecture in a season series will feature illustrations on the latest Japan disaster and aims to inform local residents.

Smokers Meeting for Cumberland Section Mining Group

The Mayor and City Council moved a vote of thanks to Canadian Collieries (Dunsmuir) Limited for financial aid toward the Fire Hall project and for providing 1000 K. W. H. free per month to keep the fire engine ready. Ald. Maxwell led the motion with Ald. Mumford seconding. Outstanding taxes as of 1923 stood at $1040.67.
