Pioneer crosses great beyond
Daniel Stewart died Saturday afternoon February 16 at Cumberland General Hospital after a brief illness. A sixty year old Scottish native, he came to the United States via British Columbia thirty seven years ago and lived in this city twenty two years. He worked for R Duismuir and Sons of Wellington in early days and was well respected. Funeral Monday from Allan Ave home to Cumberland Cemetery with Rev James Hood officiating. Pallbearers named. He leaves a widow four sons and three daughters.

Friday's Whist Drive and Dance Yields Strong Attendance

New Fox Farming Industry Emerges in Comox Valley
A new fox farming venture begins in the Comox Valley with Frank Stephenson of Grantham planning four pair of silver foxes and at least sixteen more pairs from elsewhere on Vancouver Island. Calgary’s Mr Upper, who runs a silver fox farm there, has joined the efforts and predicts a bright future. His Calgary farm started in 1917 with seven pairs worth twenty thousand dollars, and by 1921 the animals were valued at nearly a quarter of a million. The valley’s climate is deemed ideal for fox farming and strong results are anticipated.
