Several contestants were absent Tuesday delaying the local lawn tennis tournament but a push to finish remaining matches is planned for this week. Thursday afternoon may house unfinished matches. Miss Brown hosted a tea for about twenty five guests during Tuesday afternoon as two tight matches were played. In Ladies Singles Mrs Roe fell to Miss Brown after three sets six four six four six six. In Gentleman Singles Dr Gillespie reached the semi final by defeating Mr Roe six two six two.

Joseph Blairdona, an Italian worker, died about thirty minutes after a faulty shot killed him by the blast from an adjoining place. He had recently returned from his homeland with a wife. Funeral services were led by Rev Father Mertena and the mine was closed to allow many employees to attend.
