The Cumberland City Council approved first to third readings of Tax Rate By-Laws. General rate proposed to rise from 15 to 18 mills while the school rate stays at 9 mills. improvements assessment cut 25 percent so overall taxes stay near last year. Addition to Traffic By-Laws may be introduced to protect fire trucks after two private cars blocked last Sunday.

The city notes two hundred dollars estimated to repair Fourth Street and two hundred dollars thirty cents spent, with Council bills totaling 351.71. Refuse Cabinet Offer Rejected By Cumberland Council

A Victoria resident, J. Mortimer Michaels, proposed supplying the city with free refuse cabinets with inside bags and optional advertising. The Cumberland council debated risks of placement and responsibility and decided Cumberland is not interested in the scheme. No parking signs were approved for use in front of the local theatre.
