Thousands Flee to Washington as City Bears Inaugural Rush
Amid a vast travel wave to Washington, trains from Cincinnati Louisville and Columbus carried sections totaling hundreds of passengers for the inauguration. The crowning sight was the Troquois Club special from Chicago with 1000 guests, dining lavishly and marching bands, while locals reported a notable departure of a debt troubled worker.

The Coal Trade Week Ending February 28 1885
Coal shipments from Cumberland region totaled 21 827 tons for the week and 268 232 tons year to date, up 3 917 tons from 1884. Baltimore and Ohio rail shipments reached 20 432 tons for the week and 243 64 tons for the year, up 18 229 tons from last year. Chesapeake and Ohio Canal had no shipments, while Pennsylvania Railroad moved 1 395 tons in the week and 24 567 tons year to date, down 13 313 tons from the previous year.

Cleveland at the Capital His Trip From Albany
President elect Cleveland arrived in Washington this morning aboard a two car train from Albany. The party included Mrs Lamont, three children, and key staff members. Albany detectives arrested two men previously linked to Cleveland’s movements, but they turned out to be New York city detectives set up by a friend, creating a false alarm.

In Washington yesterday the Fortification bill was reported while the Sundry Civil bill advanced. The New Orleans Exposition fund grew to 400000, and an array of amendments followed. In the House a motion to skip inaugural ceremonies failed amid a lively debate. Contested election cases proceeded with continued filibustering as both chambers opened early today. The Supreme Court reassembled and Secretary Chandler ordered a court martial for Medical Inspector Wales. Gorman secured a 25000 range rights appropriation for Craight channel and the post office site purchase near the Postoffice Department was set at 640000.

Coal Pool Putrapotenta Sets New Freight Rates
The soft coal pool between the Baltimore and Ohio and the Pennsylvania railways took effect yesterday. Walter Freeman, ex division freight agent of the United Railroad Companies of New Jersey, was named commissioner. Philadelphia freight drops to 2 per ton with further reductions to Baltimore and tidewater points and along pool lines. Selling prices listed: Baltimore 2.70, Philadelphia 2.95, New England 3.50. Chesapeake and Ohio Norfolk and Western and Vanderbilt sign only to maintain rates under guardianship of PA and B&O, effectively the pool. Smoke the Island of Cuba Cigar, the best 5 cent cigar in the city.
